Jet Shades

Jet Shades makes a patented aircraft sun shade system of custom-fit, removable panels that pilots fly with to reduce cockpit heat, glare and UV exposure while preserving outside visibility. The US company says its shades are trusted by more than 5,000 aircraft owners worldwide and can keep a cockpit up to 30 degrees cooler in flight, and it ships free by ground within the United States. Each package fits within the window recess for an integrated look, clips or presses into place without adhesives, suction cups, tools or modifications, and requires no STC.

How it works

• Lightweight panels that block 99.9 percent of UVA and UVB rays while maintaining the visibility needed for traffic scanning and situational awareness
• Two shading levels: High Performance, a darker tint with a mirrored exterior for maximum heat and glare reduction in hot climates, and High Visibility, a lighter tint that keeps a brighter cockpit feel; all cockpit side window shades are made in High Visibility
• Three typical packages: a cockpit package covering the windshield and pilot and co-pilot side windows, an extended package adding cabin or rear windows, and an upper windshield or skylight package
• A one-time fitting of under 30 minutes to one or two hours depending on the aircraft, after which the shades can be left installed for the whole flight

Cirrus

Jet Shades has a Cirrus collection with custom-fit shades for the SR20, SR22 and SR22 Turbo by generation: G1 or G2, G3 or G5, G6 and G7, plus a G1 to G7 skylight shade with a Starlink antenna cutout. Each generation is sold as a windshield package (one upper windshield shade), a cockpit package (upper windshield plus pilot and co-pilot side shades) or a full aircraft package of six pieces that adds two cabin shades and a skylight shade, in High Performance (dark blue) or High Visibility (light bronze) shading. The skylight shade can be made with an opening sized to a Cirrus FLEX SR mount or a pole mount so a Starlink antenna stays clear. The G6 page lists prices from $429.00 to $2,099.00 depending on package (rates change; confirm with the company). Every package includes mounting hardware, a cleaning cloth and a fitting guide, with a two-year warranty.
