Ireland's business and general aviation association, based at Shannon Airport
About Irish Business & General Aviation Association
The Irish Business and General Aviation Association (IBGAA) represents business and general aviation in Ireland. Formed in September 2020, with members including Irish resort venues and aviation businesses, it is based at the Departures Building of Shannon Airport in County Clare and aims to bring the industry together on one inclusive platform while encouraging more young people, entrepreneurs and the wider community to enter and grow the sector. Its stated purpose is to get Irish business and general aviation flying high, honouring Ireland's aviation milestones and adding new chapters to them, and it is affiliated with the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC).
Conference
- The IBGAA International Business Aviation Conference brings together aviation decision makers from around the world to discuss developments and the future of business aviation; the 2025 edition was held on 13 November at The K Club
- The second annual conference, on business aviation and luxury tourism, was held on 1 November at Adare Manor with Gulfstream Aerospace as principal sponsor moderating a sustainability panel with 4Air, NBAA and others, an opening keynote from Ireland's Minister of State for Transport Jack Chambers, a global industry panel moderated by NBAA's Doug Carr, a session by IBGAA chair Josh Stewart on Ireland as a base for business aviation, around 150 delegates and a gala dinner sponsored by Jetcraft
Why Ireland
The association's site traces Ireland's aviation heritage from Alcock and Brown's 1919 transatlantic landing in Galway and the first Irish Coffee served at the Foynes flying boat base in 1943 to the world's first duty free shop at Shannon Airport in 1947, Tony Ryan's founding of Guinness Peat Aviation in 1975 and the world's first US Customs and Border Protection preclearance facility at Shannon. It positions Ireland as a global leader in business and general aviation, aircraft leasing and finance, and offers members benefits, a brochure, a directory, advocacy, a newsroom and blog, and information on US preclearance and Shannon Airport.
