The organization is a public-private partnership. It works to attract new employers, help existing companies expand, support entrepreneurs and build a skilled workforce. Its mission is to improve life for residents through strategic and sustainable economic growth. Since it was founded in 2010, more than 70 companies have moved to or expanded in the region, with an estimated yearly economic impact of $2.9 billion.
For business attraction, the partnership works with site consultants and company leaders through every phase of site selection. It helps them decide whether the region fits a new site or an expansion. It also shares data on major employers, incentives, infrastructure, sites and buildings.
For companies already in the region, it connects them with a network of resources and with talent and training partners. For entrepreneurs, it offers help with getting started, business plans, funding and financing, and incubators and coworking space.
The region sits between two major metro areas and along two major transport routes. Its communities include San Marcos, Kyle, Buda, Dripping Springs, Wimberley, Lockhart, Luling and Uhland. The partnership says Hays County is the fastest growing county in Texas. Texas State University anchors the region, and the partnership says the area has filed more than eleven times the patents per capita of the state as a whole.
