About Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is a charity. It delivers an advanced Critical Care Team to sick and injured people in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The site says the team is available both day and night, 365 days a year. It is called out an average of seven times a day.

The team attends road traffic collisions, sporting accidents, collapses and many other incidents. The site says each Critical Care Team includes specialist critical care paramedics, pilots, dispatchers and doctors. The team brings hospital care to the patient. That can mean surgery at the roadside or critical care in the countryside.

The site says the air ambulance can be airborne within four minutes of a call. The helicopter is yellow and green. The charity also runs emergency response vehicles. The first flight was in 2007, when the service ran eight hours a day, five days a week. Doctors have flown regularly as part of doctor and paramedic crews since 2012. Blood and plasma are carried on board.

The site names Babcock as the company that runs flight operations. It lists a medical director, a HEMS support manager, advanced paramedic leads, doctors and dispatchers among its crew.

The charity relies on public donations. The site lists one-off and monthly donations, Gift Aid, a lottery, corporate partnerships, fundraising packs and gifts in wills. It also lists patient and family support, clinical research and CPR skills courses.

The site has pages for news, patient stories, press releases, publications, vacancies and volunteering. The phone number is 023 8074 3510. The charity is active on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn.
