About GAMA

The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) exists to foster and advance the general welfare, safety, interests and activities of the global business and general aviation industry. It held its first organisational meeting on 2 January 1970 in Washington, DC, where it remains headquartered, and also maintains a Brussels office for its European work. GAMA's members include manufacturers of general aviation airplanes, rotorcraft, engines, propellers, avionics and components, as well as service providers, with members throughout the United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Europe and the Middle East. Its 2026 executive committee is chaired by Ron Draper of Textron Aviation, with Frank Moesta of Rolls-Royce as vice chairman.

Activities

  • Quarterly and year-end aircraft shipment and billing reports, including the 2026 second quarter report, and the annual State of the Industry press conference held on 18 February 2026
  • Publications on the economic impact of general aviation, which GAMA says flies more than 28.6 million hours a year in the United States, two thirds for business, supporting USD 339 billion in economic output and 1.3 million jobs
  • Technical publications and policy work on certification, airworthiness and maintenance, flight operations, electric propulsion and innovation, environment, security and safety, with committees led by executives from Blackhawk, Hartzell Propeller, Beta Technologies, Jet Aviation, Dassault, Honeywell Aerospace, Piper Aircraft, MedAire and Bombardier
  • European advocacy on proportionality for general aviation and European GA and business aviation maintenance
  • Webinar series on safety, legal and policy topics and small airplane certification, and work with standards development organisations
  • The GAMA Aviation Design Challenge for students, a general aviation job board and a careers video series

Membership

Membership is subject to board approval and requires a sustained commitment to aviation safety; aircraft, rotorcraft, engine and propeller manufacturers must hold a type certificate from EASA, ANAC, Transport Canada, the FAA or an equivalent authority, and component makers must hold the appropriate design approval. Member companies listed on its site include De Havilland Aircraft of Canada, Enstrom Helicopter, Gulfstream Aerospace, Sikorsky, Continental Aerospace Technologies, Universal Avionics, Bosch General Aviation Technology, FlightSafety International and Redbird Flight Simulations.
