About FlightAware

FlightAware is a digital aviation company based in Houston, Texas, that runs a flight tracking and aviation data platform used by aircraft operators, service providers and passengers. Founded in 2005, it was acquired by Collins Aerospace in 2021. The site says the platform serves over 10,000 aircraft operators and service providers and over 13,000,000 passengers with flight tracking, predictive technology, analytics and decision-making tools.

Data sources

FlightAware receives data from air traffic control systems in over 45 countries, its own network of ADS-B ground stations in 195 countries, Aireon space-based ADS-B, and satellite and VHF datalink through providers including ARINC, SITA, Satcom Direct, Garmin and Honeywell GoDirect. Its HyperFeed engine fuses these real-time sources with the company's own models and algorithms. Volunteers can build a PiAware receiver or host a FlightFeeder to contribute ADS-B coverage, and SkyAware Anywhere and a coverage map show the result.
