Flex Air Flight School

Flex Air Flight School trains civilian and military pilots at Johnson County Executive Airport in Olathe, Kansas, and at Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport in San Diego, California. It started in 2016 with one plane and one instructor and has grown every year since. The company is led by veterans and focuses on career outcomes, with each student paired with a pilot mentor.

Programs

• Private pilot licence and instrument rating, full time (as little as 2 months for the PPL) or part time (3 to 6 months)
• Commercial Pilot Pathway: every certificate and rating needed to be hired, plus 36 months of career mentoring, resume help and interview coaching
• CFI Academy: about two weeks of full-time training to the CFI check ride, then two more weeks for the CFII
• Military transition with SkillBridge, the GI Bill and VR&E, including a program for military helicopter pilots
• Optional ATP-CTP and ATP multi-engine training in Boeing 737 simulators and King Air aircraft
• Part 141 and Part 61 training, with weekly scheduling built around work and family

Leadership

Paul Wynns, PhD, CEO and co-founder, is a retired US Navy commander who flew the S-3B Viking and later worked as a program manager at Boeing Defense, Space and Security. He studied aerospace at the US Naval Academy and Stanford University.
