About Elilombarda S.r.l.
Elilombarda is an Italian aircraft operator that mainly uses multi-engine helicopters. Its focus is helicopter rescue, passenger transport and flights to offshore platforms. The company also offers private jet flights, pilot training and airworthiness management.
In 1986 the company started one of the first helicopter rescue projects in Italy. An Agusta 109 helicopter was based inside the Niguarda hospital in Milan to give first aid in work with other regional rescue systems. The helicopter was later replaced by an Agusta Bell 412 and then a BK117. The company imported the BK117 into Italy for the first time and handled its type certification. The Milan rescue service ran from 1987 until April 2005.
In the late 1980s a motorway company asked Elilombarda to study a rescue service for motorway junctions. This led to a project called Helicorthesia, the first of its kind. It ran from 1991 to 1997 around the Milan ring roads and the northern Serravalle motorway.
In 1990 the company was added to the vendor list of the main oil companies in the Mediterranean for offshore helicopter services, with 24 hour operation. It flew from bases such as Ortona, Ravenna, Gela, Crotone and Brindisi. Crews are qualified for instrument flight. The company also carried passengers at big events, including ski championships and Grand Prix races, with up to 600 passengers a day.
Elilombarda has also supported civil protection. It began this work after the Valtellina disaster in 1987, flying to connect regions and to support first aid teams.
The company lists these services: commercial air transport with HEMS emergency medical flights, SAR special operations, VIP transport and offshore work. It runs a private airplane service for business and private travel in Italy and abroad. It also has an Approved Training Organization, which trains its own pilots and also outside pilots. The company is an EASA Part M CAMO, which means it manages continuing airworthiness for aircraft and can issue airworthiness review certificates.
The operated aircraft listed on the website are a Cessna Citation Encore Plus jet, the AW139 in standard and offshore versions, the AW109E Power, AW109SP Grand New, AW109S Grand, BK117 B2 and Agusta Bell 412.
