Deutscher Ultraleichtflugverband (DULV)
Germany's ultralight flying association for licences, registration and safety
About Deutscher Ultraleichtflugverband
The Deutscher Ultraleichtflugverband e.V. (DULV) is the German ultralight flying association, based at Muhlweg 9 in Grosserlach-Morbach, Baden-Wurttemberg. Alongside the Deutscher Aero Club it is one of the two bodies commissioned by the federal transport ministry to administer ultralight aviation in Germany: under the so-called double mandate, both associations now look after all ultralight types in equal measure, so licence holders and aircraft owners can choose which association manages their licence or aircraft registration file. The DULV is also the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt-recognised test body for paramotors and powered hang gliders under 120 kg empty weight.
Services
- Licensing and training: information on licences for three-axis ultralights over 120 kg, paramotor trikes and paramotors up to 120 kg, recognition of foreign licences, documents to carry in flight, information for foreign pilots, and downloads for training, examinations, flight schools and class 5 examiners, with the official question catalogue for the UL and LL theory exams; only students of DULV-affiliated flight schools receive their licence from the association
- Airworthiness and registration: approvals and technical administration of ultralight aircraft, a searchable database of registration marks with reservations for a fee, a list of class 5 examiners, airworthiness directives and safety bulletins, including a joint DULV and DAeC safety notice on Rotax 912 and 914 engines
- Incident reporting under section 7 of the German air traffic regulations through the PASIF (Powered Air Sport Incident Findings) database, with data accessible only to the DULV to improve safety learning
- Membership, insurance, public relations and the DULV-Info member magazine
Activities
The association supports the German Ultralight Championship, whose 34th edition took place from 20 to 23 August 2026 at Bohlen airfield (EDOE) with pilots from across Germany, and promotes events such as open hangar days in Freiburg. Its office is reachable Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings and afternoons and on Wednesday and Friday mornings, with specialist contacts for membership and insurance, training and licences, approvals and technical matters, and public relations.
