CareFlite

CareFlite is a nonprofit air and ground ambulance service in North Texas. The site says it is a Texas 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. Its corporate headquarters is at 1630 Corporate Court, Irving, TX 75038. The site says it has served North Texas for more than 44 years.

CareFlite runs seven helicopter bases. These are at Texas Health Fort Worth Hospital, Methodist Dallas Medical Center, North Texas Medical Center in Gainesville, Terrell Municipal Airport, Whitney, Burnet Municipal Airport and Granbury Regional Airport. The site says the helicopter service covers more than 100 counties within 150 miles of DFW Airport.

The site says all FAA Part 135 aviation services are provided by CareFlite, which keeps exclusive operational control over all its aircraft. It also says the rotor service line is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems, known as CAMTS.

The ground ambulance service covers parts of Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Erath, Hill, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker and Tarrant counties. The site also lists wheelchair transport in Dallas, Collin and Tarrant counties. The company provides 911 and EMS service in Balch Springs, southeast Dallas County, Ellis County ESD 5, Hill County and Kaufman County.

The site lists a Caring Heart Membership Program. Members with medical insurance are not billed for CareFlite's medical transport costs after the insurer pays. Members without insurance receive a 50 percent reduction on CareFlite's medical expenses.

The site says more than 650 EMS professionals work for the company. Its communications center at Grand Prairie Municipal Airport is a secondary 911 center, staffed 24 hours a day. The site also lists 1,255,000 patients transported.
