About Canadian UAVs

Canadian UAVs is a Canadian-owned drone services and solutions company founded in 2015 on the view that unmanned aircraft should be treated in the same way as traditional manned aircraft. It serves civil, commercial and military customers from southern Alberta, and its team brings more than 100 years of combined commercial and military aviation experience. The site reports more than 10,640 successful flight hours for industry and the military.

The company says it is the only remotely piloted aircraft systems operator that Transport Canada has given a delegation of authority for beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) certification, with a trans-national operations certificate. Its mission is to provide the ecosystem to integrate UAVs into complex airspace.

Commercial services

  • Asset integrity inspections, including pipeline monitoring with route planning, heat and leak detection and encroachment monitoring
  • Aerial mapping powered by its Sparrowhawk radar, with 12 km radius BVLOS flights covering up to 450 square kilometres from a single launch point
  • Environmental monitoring such as wildlife tracking, methane leak detection and soil erosion analysis
  • Confined space inspections with an intrinsically safe internal inspection UAV for tanks and processing units
  • Round the clock infrared surveillance to support emergency response

Military services and products

As a defence prime contractor to the Canadian Department of National Defence, the company provides unmanned intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance services and is a controlled goods program handler for military hardware. It is the Canadian reseller for Lockheed Martin Indago small unmanned aircraft systems, the Canadian channel partner for the Textron Systems Aerosonde family, and offers Tasker fleet management software and the Sparrowhawk detect and avoid radar approved by Transport Canada.

Partnerships

Datsa Dynamics is a joint venture between Des Nedhe Group and Canadian UAVs that combines Indigenous-led industrial expertise with UAV technology. The company holds a Special Flight Operations Certificate authorising SAIL IV operations nationwide.
