Bismarck Aero Center

Bismarck Aero Center is a full-service FBO at Bismarck Municipal Airport in North Dakota. The company says it is the home of the region's largest aircraft maintenance and avionics facility. Its group also includes Bismarck Air Medical, Bismarck Air Charter and Mandan Aero Center.

The company was founded in 1990 as Aircraft Management Services by Bob Simmers. In 2002 it added aircraft maintenance with Mike Aarestad. In 2006 it formed Dakota Avionics, which holds a Limited Repair Station certificate from the FAA. In 2008 it became a full-service FBO and took the name Bismarck Aero Center.

Services include aircraft maintenance, avionics, aircraft rental and flight instruction. The FBO offers Jet-A and 100LL fuel, hangar storage and pilot services. The site says the company has 24/7 certified NATA staff and offers 20 minute quick turns.

In February 2022 the company bought Bismarck Air Medical and Bismarck Air Charter. The site says these operate a King Air 200 and a C-90. The site says the group has over 40 skilled aviation professionals.

The company supports local causes. Props and Hops is an annual event at the Mandan Aero Center that has raised over $100,000 for local aviation causes. Aviation Career Day brings fifth graders to the airport, and the site says over 900 students have taken part each year. An annual fly-in and pancake breakfast is held on the second Sunday in September.

The flightline, FBO, fueling, arrivals and departures are in Building 22 on the north end of the general aviation ramp. Maintenance and avionics are in Building 53 on the south side of the ramp.
