BEML

BEML Limited is an Indian manufacturer of equipment for defence and aerospace, mining and construction, and rail and metro. It is a Schedule A company under the Ministry of Defence of the Government of India. It serves India's core sectors, including defence, rail, power, mining and infrastructure.

The company began in 1965 with a turnover of Rs. 5 crore. It says it now has a turnover of more than Rs. 4,300 crore, thanks to its wide business range.

BEML works through three business groups. These are Defence and Aerospace, Mining and Construction, and Rail and Metro. The company says it has strengthened its defence work, rail and metro products, mining equipment and aerospace activity.

In defence, BEML supplies ground support vehicles for India's integrated guided missile and radar development projects. These vehicles support the missile and radar work carried out on the ground.

In mining and construction, BEML makes heavy equipment for mining and building work. The company describes itself as a major Indian maker of mining and construction equipment.

In rail and metro, BEML makes metro cars. It has started building driverless metro trains in India, which are used to ease city travel. It also serves the wider rail sector.

The company has recently adopted a new identity. It uses the image of a phoenix and the name Infinix. It says the change marks a move to rise higher, from strengthening defence to rail, metro, mining and aerospace work. The new tagline phrases are New Frontiers. New Dreams, and Beyond Possibilities.
