About Axnes

Axnes makes wireless intercom systems for aircraft crews and other mission teams. The company was founded in 1995 and is headquartered in Grimstad, Norway. It is privately owned and has offices in the UK, Austria, Australia and the USA, backed by a worldwide partner network. All its products are developed and made in Norway.

Axnes serves search and rescue and military teams, and also emergency services, civilian operators, maritime roles and the oil and gas industry. It says it has served SAR teams for more than 30 years and has deployed over 3,000 systems. Its systems can be added to existing wired intercoms or used alone.

The product range has four lines. The CPX wireless intercom system includes the BST250 base station and the HS200 and HS250 wireless headsets. The PNG wireless intercom includes handsets, a control panel, mobile and installed base stations and chargers. Axnes also offers PNG compatible headsets and helmets, such as a throat mic, Ops-Core models, an NVolo SAR helmet, the IR33 and a Gecko headset. A line of PNG compatible accessories completes the range.

The systems offer range inside and outside the cabin. Security comes from AES 256, FIPS 140-2 or embedded hardware encryption. Audio is full duplex, with adaptive noise cancelling, echo cancelling and non-interrupted VOX. Users can set up groups and intercom loops, with many people in several groups on a single frequency. Remote radio keying gives outside crew access to radios installed on the platform. Secure GPS position reports and an optional AIS SART distress feature track remote crew.

Other features include NVG Class B compatibility, UHF and VHF bands, and modes for intercom, direct and local use. The housing is a rugged all aluminium case, and amphibious variants are available. The systems connect to all major intercom brands and standard headsets and helmets. Axnes says its systems are certified airworthy to aviation authority requirements.

Axnes is EASA Part 21G and Part 145 certified. It supplies major aviation manufacturers, including Airbus, Leonardo, Bell and Sikorsky. Vipe21, based in Stavanger, Norway, is its preferred integrator and installer for CPX airborne products. Other partners include ODM GmbH in Germany for headsets, NVolo in Italy for helmets, and Alidaunia in Italy.
