Aviotec

Aviotec is an Italian aerospace company based in Turin, with its headquarters in Pianezza. Founded in 2008, it began by producing Multi-Layer Insulation blankets for the space sector and now delivers complete aerospace solutions covering design, electrical harnesses, integration and testing. Its website says it is specialised in the design, manufacturing, test and integration of MLI blankets and electrical harnesses for aerospace applications.

Products

• Multi-Layer Insulation blankets: passive thermal control hardware that protects spacecraft and spaceborne systems from extreme temperature swings. Space-grade MLI uses several layers of highly reflective film separated by low-conductivity spacers and installed under vacuum, which reduces radiative heat transfer while limiting mass and power use
• Electrical harnesses: reliable harnesses designed, manufactured and integrated for aerospace systems, with work carried out by ESA certified personnel using calibrated tools to standards for crimping high-reliability electrical connections and for surface mount and through hole assembly
• Cryogenic applications and hardware for thermal insulation

Aviotec says its skills were developed through work on major European programmes that make up the International Space Station. Every MLI product is tested and passes quality control by a dedicated quality assurance team, from material selection to final inspection.

Company

The company grew steadily from a small specialised team, expanding its design and manufacturing capability. In 2022 growing demand led to a move to a 2,000 square metre headquarters that includes a 600 square metre cleanroom with contamination control. It reports having earned the trust of institutional stakeholders such as ESA and the Italian space agency ASI, as well as commercial New Space customers, through active participation in industry events.

Environment

Aviotec powers its facility with a solar panel system, uses much of the energy it produces in its operations and feeds the surplus into the national grid.

Events

Aviotec is listed as an exhibitor at SmallSat Europe 2027, Space Tech Expo Europe 2026 and Paris Air Show 2027.
