About Avionics Place

Avionics Place is an avionics shop at 5121 Falcon Road in Rockford, Illinois. The site says it is one of the oldest avionics shops in Illinois. It works at Chicago Rockford International Airport.

The shop started in 1974 at Dacy Airport, where it focused on radios for small aircraft. In 1981 it moved to Rockford International Airport. The site says it now works from a hangar on the northeast side of the airport. The site gives two different sizes for that hangar.

The shop focuses mainly on general aviation aircraft. The site says it has fitted panels in experimental aircraft and in retired fighter jets. It installs new and used avionics in any general aviation aircraft. Visitors can see a show room with demo equipment.

The site lists a service department with on site testing and repair. It says the shop is a certified Part 145 repair shop. It lists panel modifications, custom cut panels made on a CNC machine, and work on experimental equipment such as Garmin G3X and Dynon systems.

The site says the shop offers twice yearly pitot static checks at a fixed rate. Mobile checks are offered within 75 miles of Rockford for groups of at least five planes. A courtesy vehicle is available while a plane is being serviced.

The site lists brands such as Garmin, Aspen Avionics, Avidyne, Bose, Dynon Avionics, JP Instruments, S-TEC and Appareo. The site says the shop is a member of the Aircraft Electronics Association. The site lists the phone number (815) 229-5360.
