Automated Systems in Aircraft Performance
Runway analysis, weight and balance and driftdown software since 1995
About Automated Systems in Aircraft Performance
Automated Systems in Aircraft Performance, Inc. (ASAP) develops aircraft performance software for regional airlines, cargo operators, charter fleets and business aviation. Founded in 1995 and based in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, the company has spent 30 years providing takeoff and landing performance, weight and balance and enroute driftdown calculations backed by its own engineering team and 24-hour customer support. Its STAR system connects dispatch and the flight deck so that performance, payload and fuel information flow through one solution.
Runway analysis
ASAP STAR provides takeoff and landing performance data for more than 300 aircraft models and over 23,000 runway ends worldwide. Terrain and obstacles are factored directly into maximum takeoff weight, with complete V-speed calculations based on actual weights, current, forecast or custom weather, and results for full thrust and reduced power (assumed temperature or FLEX). The system applies the runway surface type, such as ice, gravel, grass, paved, smooth or grooved, and any contamination, generates warnings when outputs exceed aircraft or runway limits, and applies operational landing factors automatically. Operators can adjust runway lengths and add temporary obstacles in real time, run calculations without an internet connection, and view engine-out departure turn procedures as 3D point-of-view videos.
Weight and balance and driftdown
The weight and balance module manages passengers, cargo and fuel with dynamic centre of gravity calculations and loading workflows, linked to runway performance. The enroute engine-out driftdown module evaluates route performance and terrain clearance using Method One and Method Two analysis. Further modules organise flight documents and operational records and synchronise flight information between dispatch and crews, with connections to compatible planning and EFB systems.
Company goals
ASAP states its aims as integrating weight and balance with performance, expanding compatibility with airline, dispatch and EFB systems, investing in research and development, maintaining comprehensive airport and obstacle datasets, and growing in international markets. A customer, Alpine Air, reports better insight into performance factors and improved pilot safety from using STAR.
Shows
ASAP appears in the exhibitor lists of the Annual Flight Operations Conference 2026, the ATAC Canadian Aviation Conference and Tradeshow 2027 and the NBAA Schedulers and Dispatchers Conference 2027.
