About ATOPS

ATOPS, also called Aerotech OPS, is an engine maintenance company in Medley, Florida, next to Miami International Airport. It provides maintenance, repair and overhaul for turbine aircraft operators, on both new generation and classic aircraft engines.

The company describes itself as a full service repair and maintenance facility with AOG field service support around the clock. It says it looks at each project case by case and stays flexible. Its stated focus is quality and clear communication with customers. Its aim is to get customers back in the air faster, better and safer.

Field service and on wing support come from mobile engine service stations. A common problem is an unscheduled engine removal caused by foreign object damage to high pressure compressor blades. For that, ATOPS offers borescope blend repair on the wing, which it calls Boroblend. Before blending scopes, this kind of damage meant removing and stripping the engine. The company also does video borescope inspection with digital measurement.

When an engine is already off the wing, ATOPS can do a top case repair at an engine facility. The top and bottom compressor cases are opened so a damaged blade can be replaced with a new one, following the engine shop manual. The company says this saves an operator thousands of dollars in downtime and logistics compared with sending the engine back to the maker. It lists the CFM56, CF6 and CF34 series for this work.

ATOPS also runs an engine hospital shop visit for limited scope repairs, using modular repair or replacement. It states it has FAA and EASA dual release capability and a turnaround of one to ten days. The goals are controlling cost, cutting capital spending and extending time on wing. The company lists engine and aircraft lease returns and engine disassembly.

Component work covers fan blades, spinner, LPT module, fan frame, transfer gearbox and pneumatic starter. The company says it overhauls or repairs engines and offers warranty, AOG support and parts to customers worldwide.

Its team includes technicians qualified as FAA airframe and powerplant mechanics. The company says the work follows manufacturer references and standards. The office is open Monday through Friday during the day, while AOG support runs 24 hours.
