Cee-Bee Aviation

Cee-Bee Aviation makes surface finishing chemicals for commercial and military aviation. The company says it has supplied industrial chemical products for over 94 years. It is a member of the McGean family of companies, and it has headquarters in the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore and China.

The company was founded in 1927 as Cee-Bee Laboratories. Its first products were used for heavy cleaning of well drilling equipment. From 1945 to 1950, it moved into research and development of surface finishing chemicals for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of commercial and military aircraft.

The business grew through partnerships and ownership changes. A licence agreement in Japan began in 1955. A joint venture in England was formed in 1961 to supply the European aviation market. McGean acquired Cee-Bee Aviation in 1974, and it took full control of the UK business in 1980.

McGean-Rohco Singapore was set up in 1990 as a regional headquarters for the Asia-Pacific aviation market. In 2017, Cee-Bee Aviation Materials was founded in Xiamen, China, to support growth in the Chinese aviation market.

The aircraft cleaning range covers exterior and interior cleaners, solvent cleaners, wheel and brake cleaners, aircraft polishes and dry wash products. The military approved range includes exterior cleaners, parts cleaning and corrosion removal.

Other ranges cover engine overhaul chemicals, such as pre cleaning, descaling, carbon removers and corrosion inhibitors. Paint removal products include acid, alkaline and peroxide activated removers. Lavatory maintenance products include cleaners, deodorants and fresheners.

In 2019 the company acquired Met-L-Chek, which makes penetrant and magnetic particle inspection materials. Product pages list specifications from bodies such as AMS, Boeing, Airbus and Douglas. The McGean group follows a formula for quality system that makes every employee responsible for quality.
