About ASTRES
ASTRES is a French student alliance for people who love space. The name stands for Alliance Stratégique des Étudiants du Spatial. It brings together students and young professionals from cities across France who want to help shape the future of space.
The alliance says its mission is to unite talents, ideas and generations to invent tomorrow's space. It takes part in the debate on how France and Europe can stay major space powers. Its members say they want to add their own contribution to French space ambitions.
ASTRES organises its work in eight working groups. They cover launchers and space transport, space exploration, international affairs, financing, security and defence, space culture, governance and sustainable development.
The alliance publishes its ideas in several formats. It has released a report called Nexus Alpha that sets out its ambitions for the future of space. It also offers a deck of Astro Cartes, a set of proposals designed to make people think. Its news section includes articles, analysis pieces, podcasts and videos. One podcast episode looks at the European Launcher Challenge, with guests from the European Space Agency and MaiaSpace.
The alliance welcomes new members each year. It also invites companies and organisations to work with it. Organisers can invite students and young professionals to an event. Employers can find new talent outside the usual channels, and anyone can talk with the next generation of the sector.
ASTRES thanks a list of partners and supporters. These include space and defence bodies, groups of friends of space, a university research chair, a foundation and the French aerospace industry group GIFAS. The alliance is active on LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube.
