Association Air Medic

The Association of Air Medical Services is a trade association for air medical transport. It was established in 1980. The association works to advance the art and science of transport medicine through advocacy, education, and research. Its mission is to ensure high quality, life saving care to patients and communities worldwide. The group marks forty five years of established and serving transport medicine.

AAMS advocates on behalf of the medical transport community. It works to ensure the sustainability of medical transport, increase medical quality and patient safety, and maintain access to healthcare for the communities it serves. The association provides a state and regional associations directory and conducts an advocacy cost study. It also maintains a political action committee and provides information about federal programs such as the CMS Rural Health Transformation Program.

The association serves medical transport service providers, suppliers, and individuals. Members share information and work together to collectively resolve problems and provide leadership in the medical transport community. AAMS offers membership benefits that include a career center, a partnership program, and a FedEx Advantage Program.

AAMS hosts educational opportunities throughout the year. The AMTC26 conference will be held in Fort Worth, Texas, from October 26 to 28. The association also runs the MTLI undergraduate program and a graduate school session in Hilton Head, South Carolina, from January 13 to 15, 2027. Other education programs include the Flight Ready Institute, LIFT, SMTA, and a Virtual Career Advancement Series with on demand content. These programs give participants the opportunity to earn educational credits and network with peers from around the world.

The association presents annual awards to recognize achievements in the industry. These include the Eileen Frazer SPARK Award, AMTC community awards, and a 40 Under 40 rising leaders list for 2026. AAMS Abroad brings together medical transport professionals worldwide to share knowledge, foster collaboration, and advance patient care and safety.

AAMS manages the AAMS Safety Circle and works with other industry organizations to align strategic safety priorities. Members have access to resources such as the Resource Toolbox, ETHOS Database, and regular member town hall meetings. The association links to social media accounts on YouTube, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram. It also produces AAMS On Air, a media program featuring discussions about membership and industry best practices.
