Arescosmo

Arescosmo is an Italian company that designs, makes and qualifies products for defence and space. It is based in Aprilia, in the Latina area of Italy. It was founded in 1987 and works in two lines of business, Defence and Space.

Its mission is to supply products and services that support the life and survival of defence and security forces, and to support operations in the aerospace field. It describes itself as a strategic partner to the Italian Ministry of Defence.

The company designs, qualifies and builds parachutes for military use. Its solutions include airdrop systems, drogue parachutes, personnel parachutes and torpedo stabilizers. It also has knowledge of trajectory stabilisers and drogue parachutes for military aircraft.

In personal protection, Arescosmo has years of practical experience with CBRN protection systems, such as protective suits and masks. CBRN means chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear. The company has also widened its range to include ballistic vests and CBRN kits.

Since 2010, Arescosmo has designed and made ground support equipment for military aviation systems. This equipment supports maintenance and repair of military aircraft in extreme conditions. It includes a localized enclosure and an environmental control unit.

In space, the company designs, makes and manages programs at system level. Its areas include planetary landing and descent, atmospheric re-entry, inflatable modules, recovery subsystems, space agriculture, life support systems, capture mechanisms and planetary protection.

Arescosmo has its own research and development department. Work starts with study and customer contact, moves to concept and prototyping, and includes preliminary tests in an internal lab. The team builds a compliance matrix to meet each customer requirement. The company holds ISO 14001:2015 and UNI EN ISO 9100:2018 certificates. At its headquarters, 1,960 solar panels cover more than 8,000 square metres and produce about 30 per cent of the company's energy demand.
