About AndroMach
AndroMach is a French company that builds reusable autonomous systems to operate from the stratosphere to orbit. It was founded in 2023 by aerospace engineers from IPSA.
The company wants to make access to the very high atmosphere repeatable, affordable and sovereign. It aims to serve science, industry and defence customers. Its two main products are a reusable hypersonic drone called Envol and a rocket engine called Banger.
Envol is 4 metres long. It has two jet engines for take-off and transit, and a cryogenic rocket engine for the climb. It takes off from a normal runway and lights its rocket in flight. It is designed to reach Mach 5 and an altitude of 200 km, then glide back to land. AndroMach plans a turnaround of under 6 hours between flights.
Banger is a cryogenic rocket engine that uses liquid oxygen and propane. It can be restarted and is fully reusable. The propulsion team designed it in-house. It completed its qualification campaign at the DGA Missile Test Center in December 2025, with technical support from CNES. The campaign included 21 successful hot-fire tests, no failures and about 7 minutes of total burn time.
The company follows a step-by-step plan. Feasibility was confirmed with CNES in 2024, and Banger was qualified in 2025. The Envol XP1 commercial prototype and its first flights are planned for 2026 and 2027. Envol XP2, a version made for industry, is planned for 2027 and 2028, and first commercial flights are planned for 2028.
AndroMach sees three kinds of customer. Scientists can use the vehicle for atmospheric science from 0 to 200 km, microgravity research and suborbital experiments. Industry can test hardware in real hypersonic and space conditions and shorten validation cycles. Defence and security partners can use it for high-altitude operations. The company has an industrial partnership with SOBEN and has advisors from CNES, CNRS and the space industry.
