About Aircraft Electronics Association
The Aircraft Electronics Association, or AEA, is a trade group for aviation businesses that make, support and install aircraft electronics. It is based in Lee's Summit, Missouri. The association was founded in 1957. It has nearly 1,300 member companies in more than 40 countries.
Members include approved maintenance organizations for aircraft electronics. They also include instrument facilities, avionics makers, instrument makers, airframe makers, test equipment makers, major distributors and educational institutions. The site says designated engineering representatives are members too. The CAET program is listed as a way to boost skills and professional development. The site also lists Avionics News and an AEA Amplified podcast.
The association represents members in regulatory affairs around the world. Its regulatory pages cover the FAA, Canada, Europe and the South Pacific. It has delegates and regulatory updates. It also has repair station resources and standard guides and forms.
The AEA offers training. These include the Certified Aircraft Electronics Technician program, an online course called AERO, an apprenticeship program and an AN technical training exam. The site also lists webinars, scholarships and an avionics training excellence award.
Members get benefits such as EEDirect, a rate and labor survey and warranty forms. Members can also search the member directory and use an apprenticeship program. The site has a jobs board, a member directory and an advanced search tool. It lists an annual convention and regional meetings. The site says 2026 regional meetings are open for attendee and exhibitor registration.
The association publishes avionics news, a pilot guide and a podcast. The site says the board of directors is elected by members, and day-to-day operations are managed by a full-time staff. The phone number is 816-347-8400. The address is 3570 NE Ralph Powell Road in Lee's Summit, Missouri 64064. The site lists a Pubs section with the AEA Pilot's Guide and an AEA Wired newsletter.
