About AIR-TRANSPORT EUROPE
AIR-TRANSPORT EUROPE (ATE) is a Slovak aviation company established in 1991. It began with helicopter emergency medical service (HEMS) in the Poprad region and has expanded since. Today, ATE operates helicopter medical rescue in seven centers across Slovakia and two centers in the Czech Republic.
The company provides helicopter emergency medical service every day of the year and on a 24/7 basis under a license issued by the Slovak Ministry of Health. ATE’s HEMS bases in Slovakia include Poprad, Bratislava, Banská Bystrica, Košice, Nitra, Žilina, and Trenčín. In the Czech Republic, ATE operates bases in Olomouc and Ostrava.
ATE also offers medical air transport using two Cessna Citation 550 Bravo jets equipped for patient transfers. Business flights for VIP clients are available, operated with appropriate business jets. Beyond flying, the company runs a helicopter service center accredited with EASA Part 145 certification, focusing on maintenance and repairs mainly for Agusta and Bell helicopters. It also maintains a trading division dealing with MIL helicopter spare parts and a flight school providing air crew training.
Helicopters in the current fleet include twin-engine Agusta A109K2 and Bell 429 models. The Bell 429s have been part of the fleet since 2013, chosen for medical transport abilities including large cabin access and rescue hoists. In the Czech Republic, ATE operates Airbus Helicopters EC135 T2+ and P2+ variants for HEMS missions. The Agusta A109K2 helicopters are designed for alpine terrain and equipped with night vision goggles and rescue hoists to handle missions in mountains and remote areas.
Since 1991, ATE has completed over 30,000 rescue missions and more than 30,000 flight hours with HEMS. It is a member of the European Helicopter and Air Ambulance Committee (EHAC) and the International Commission for Rescue in Mountains (ICAR-CISA). The company plans to expand its activities into ground emergency medical services in Slovakia.
