About AIM Aerospace

SEKISUI Aerospace was formerly known as AIM Aerospace and is part of the SEKISUI Chemical Group. The company has designed, tested, and manufactured composite products for the aerospace industry for more than 30 years. It employs more than 1000 people.

The company operates three Centers of Excellence with more than 500,000 square feet of manufacturing space. Its corporate headquarters is in Renton, Washington. Additional facilities are located in Sumner, Washington, and Orange City, Iowa.

The company produces interior structures including front row furniture, cargo panels, business class seat shells, separators, closets, dividers, and lavatories. It also manufactures overhead stowage bins, crew rest modules, video control cabinets, flight deck doors, and life raft stowage. Crushed core seat shells are produced at the Renton site.

It makes environmental control system ducting for Boeing 737, 747, 757, and 767 aircraft. It also produces APU inlet and exhaust systems. Primary and secondary composite structures include wing to body fairings, horizontal stabilizer tip caps, stow bin brackets, and escape slide packboards. QForge compression molded parts can reduce weight by more than 40 percent compared with aluminum.

Capabilities include automation with robots and cobots, autoclave curing, out of autoclave processing, compression molding, bladder molding, and oven cure. The company uses automated ply cutting, laser projection for layup, machining, waterjet cutting, bonding, assembly, and integration. Inspection methods include CMM, non destructive testing, flash thermography, and flammability testing.

SEKISUI Aerospace is certified to AS9100D and ISO 9001. Its Quatro operations hold Nadcap accreditation for non destructive testing. The Orange City facility holds ISO 14001 certification. Customers include Boeing, Gulfstream, GE Aviation, Spirit AeroSystems, and other aerospace manufacturers.

The company received the 2019 Excellent 10 Award from the Economic Development Board for Tacoma Pierce County. It was named Aerospace Company of the Year by the Aerospace Futures Alliance in 2020 and by the Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance in 2022. SEKISUI Chemical Group has been selected as one of the 2023 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World.
