Acadian Ambulance Air Medical Services

Acadian Air Med Services is the air ambulance arm of Acadian Ambulance. It is based in Lafayette, Louisiana, at 130 East Kaliste Saloom Road. The site describes the company as a national leader in air ambulance medical transport.

Air Med started in 1981 as the first aero medical provider in the Gulf of Mexico. The site says ground ambulances struggled to reach rural and swamp areas of Louisiana, so air transport was added. The program also reached emergencies offshore. The site says Air Med helicopters fly more first response missions than any other air ambulance program in the country.

The company runs the ONE GULF Emergency Call Center. Paramedics who are also trained as flight controllers staff the center around the clock. The center coordinates emergency medical response to the offshore oil and gas industry. It works with the Louisiana Emergency Response Network trauma system to move patients to and from offshore sites.

The site says all FAA Part 135 aviation services are provided by Metro Aviation, Inc. Metro Aviation keeps exclusive operational control over all aircraft. Acadian is a member of the American Ambulance Association. The site lists pages for aircraft fleet, operating bases, on-board medical equipment, patient care and accreditations.

The site lists Sherri Wells as Air Med Director. It also reports that Zachary Dubroc was promoted to Chief Flight Nurse in September 2026. The company offers education and presentations, and it has a landing zone requirements page and a request form for education.

Dispatch lines are 337-291-1111 and 1-800-259-1111. Corporate office lines are 337-291-3333 and 1-800-259-3333. The site says requests are answered within two business days. For emergencies, the site says to dial 911.
