Horizon Aircraft and Constance Lake First Nation sign medevac MOU for Cavorite X7
Horizon Aircraft signed an MOU with Constance Lake First Nation toward possible Cavorite X7 use for medevac and community air services in Northern Ontario.

New Horizon Aircraft Ltd., known as Horizon Aircraft, said on 5 November 2026 that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Constance Lake First Nation. The MOU points to a possible future purchase of Cavorite X7 aircraft for medevac and community air services. It is not a firm order.
What the MOU covers and why the community wants it
The MOU looks at emergency medical flights, patient transfer and critical delivery in Northern Ontario. Constance Lake First Nation and other First Nations in Northern Ontario are far from advanced medical care. The Cavorite X7 is designed to take off and land vertically, so it would not need a runway.
Chief Rick Allen said the community plans to own the aircraft and build the service with an experienced aviation operator. It would run year-round for Constance Lake and other First Nations, with use cases and standards being set.
Horizon Aircraft is developing the Cavorite X7 for all-weather flying. The company is aiming for IFR and FIKI certification, to allow operations in the cold, snow and low visibility common in Northern Ontario. Brandon Robinson, Co-Founder and CEO of Horizon Aircraft, said, "Remote and Indigenous communities shouldn't have to wait longer for emergency care simply because of geography." The company says the Cavorite X7 is designed to fly the same routes at twice the speed of a helicopter, which it says could cut transport times in half.
The Cavorite X7 and where the programme stands
The Cavorite X7 is a hybrid-electric VTOL aircraft in development. It is designed for one pilot and six passengers. Horizon Aircraft lists a top speed of 460 km/h, a range up to 800 km and a payload of 680 kg. It would fly most of the trip on its wings like a normal aeroplane.
The aircraft is not yet certified. On 9 October 2026, Horizon Aircraft said its full-scale demonstrator should be completed by the first quarter of 2027, with ground, taxi and then flight tests to follow. On the same date, the company said it had signed letters of intent worth more than US$1 billion in possible aircraft sales. On 29 September 2026, Horizon Aircraft signed a letter of intent with Great Lakes Helicopter to maintain the Cavorite X7 and help train its pilots. Great Lakes Helicopter is an Ontario helicopter operator, maintenance provider and pilot school.
