EASA has published the agenda for its 2026 Innovative Air Mobility (IAM) Implementation Forum, which takes place at the agency's headquarters in Cologne on 27 and 28 October 2026. The forum is hybrid, with in-person and online places, and registration is open through the EASA event page. The theme is "From rules to reality: accelerating Innovative Air Mobility in Europe". This is the second forum, two years after the first.
What is on the agenda
The two days are built around three areas: U-space, VTOL and unmanned aircraft systems. EASA frames the sessions around practical questions, including how U-space implementation can be simplified, what is needed to support eVTOL entry into service, and how cross-border and beyond visual line of sight drone operations should work in practice. Automation, safety integration and lessons from organisations already operating are also on the programme, in a mix of panels, workshops and interactive sessions.
Day one runs from 09:00 to 17:00 CET and day two from 08:30 to 17:30 CET at Konrad-Adenauer-Ufer 3, Cologne. EASA posted the agenda on 11 September and an updated version with speaker details on 14 October. The forum is for national authorities, manufacturers, operators, U-space service providers and technical experts.
Who is speaking
The published speaker line-up draws from both sides of the rulebook. Air navigation and U-space names include EUROCONTROL, ENAV and Frequentis. Aircraft developers include Vertical Aerospace, Eve Air Mobility, Ascendance, Pipistrel and Leonardo Helicopters, with Wingcopter and Odys Aviation on the drone side, Collins Aerospace on systems and ADAC Luftrettung bringing an operator's view.
Airports are planning in parallel
The forum lands as airports start to plan for the same aircraft. On 17 September the American Association of Airport Executives released an Advanced Air Mobility Airport Master Plan Virtual Guidebook through its Airport Consortium on Transformation, developed with Woolpert and eleven airports including San Francisco, Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles and Miami. It covers feasibility, stakeholder engagement, power requirements and how to write AAM into an airport master plan.
What it means for visitors
For operators and manufacturers, the forum is the direct route to hearing how EASA intends to simplify U-space and what it expects before the first eVTOLs enter service, with the agency's own staff in the room. The online option makes it accessible to companies that cannot travel for two days. Dates, address and the registration link are on our EASA Innovative Air Mobility Implementation Forum 2026 event page, and other drone and eVTOL dates are on the aviation events calendar.
