Panasonic Avionics now runs technical ground handling at 14 airports around the world. The work is done by its division Panasonic Technical Services (PTS). The company announced the growth in late October 2026, as reported by AviationPros on 27 October.

Technical ground handling means the maintenance checks an aircraft needs between flights. This covers transit checks, daily and weekly checks, and ETOPS checks, which are needed for long flights over water. All of it depends on local approvals and each airline's aircraft authorizations.

What is new

PTS has opened a new operation at Western Sydney International Airport in Australia. The airport says PTS is the first maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider with its own team on site there. It supports Qantas Freight flights with Airbus A330 and A321 aircraft. Panasonic plans to scale up as traffic at the new airport grows.

The network also includes London Heathrow. In Seattle, PTS began supporting China Airlines Boeing 777 services in September 2026.

The numbers

  • 14 technical ground handling locations
  • Nearly 50 line maintenance stations
  • Eight repair stations
  • Operations on three continents

The expansion adds line maintenance in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the US. Tom Eskola, vice president of Panasonic Technical Services, said airline customers need technical support that can grow with their networks.
