MAAS Aviation has named Edwin Poldermans as its new Head of MRO. The company announced the appointment on 27 October 2026. He takes over day to day work from Mark Gidman, the group Chief Operating Officer, who is stepping away after 36 years with the business.

Poldermans has more than 30 years of experience in aviation and aerospace. He has held senior roles at Fokker Techniek, GKN Fokker and Netherlands Aerospace Group.

MAAS says it is growing the maintenance side of its aircraft painting business. Its website lists sites in the Netherlands, Germany, Lithuania and the USA. The company works with MROs and also does painting for airlines, lessors and other customers across Europe and the US.

Gidman will not disappear. He stays involved as a shareholder and special advisor. MAAS CEO Danny Hakker said Gidman "has been instrumental in expanding the network of sites we operate today." Hakker described Poldermans as a leader with deep expertise in MRO operations, safety, quality and business growth.

Poldermans said he was pleased to join MAAS "at an important stage in its development." He said he wants to drive operational excellence and develop people.

Why this matters

MRO is a people business. Hangar slots, skilled engineers and quality systems decide how fast an aircraft returns to service. A new head with deep MRO and quality experience can shape all three. For customers who book painting and maintenance work together, a stronger MRO team may also mean smoother planning around one aircraft visit.
