Zambezi Helicopter Company

The Zambezi Helicopter Company has operated in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, since 1996. Its main objective is to provide scenic flights to the tourism industry. Its helipad is five minutes from the Victoria Falls town centre and about 5 km from the Falls.

The company offers three scenic flights. Flight of Angels lasts 12 to 13 minutes over the Falls. Explore the Zambezi Flight lasts 22 minutes. The Zambezi Spectacular lasts 25 minutes. It also offers private charters. Special flights can be arranged for honeymoons, proposals, anniversaries and corporate events.

The fleet includes the Bell 206L-3 LongRanger, which carries six passengers plus the pilot and has a maximum range of 600 km fully loaded. The Bell 206B-3 JetRanger carries four passengers plus the pilot, with a maximum range of 400 km fully loaded. The company describes the JetRanger as the most popular turbine helicopter ever built.

The company works with M.A.R.S. (Medical Air Rescue Service) and other medical air rescue organisations on medical evacuations in the outlying areas of Victoria Falls. This includes landing in the Batoka Gorge and Zambezi National Park, and ferrying injured people to Victoria Falls or Hwange, about 100 km away. It trains regularly with M.A.R.S. staff.

Bookings can be made online, by email or by WhatsApp. Children under three fly free, and pickup is included. Free cancellation applies up to 24 hours prior to a flight, and the company offers a price match guarantee. If weather cancels a flight, the customer can reschedule or receive a full refund.

The company says no two flights are ever the same, with views of the Falls and the Zambezi River. The LongRanger is also used for aerial photography and film shoots over the Falls.
