About Wright Electric
Wright Electric is a US aerospace and defence company that builds power systems for military and aviation use. The company was founded in 2016 and is headquartered in Malta, New York. It develops motors, generators, inverters and batteries. Its products range from 30 kW expeditionary generators to multi megawatt airborne propulsion.
The Dynamo is a 30 kW generator that also works as ground support equipment and as a microgrid hub. It can switch between 50, 60 and 400 Hz with the press of a button. It accepts solar, wind, battery and shore power, and the website says it is up to 20 percent more efficient than commercial generators. The company says one 800 pound unit replaces about 8,000 pounds of equipment.
The DenseGen 3750 is a 3.75 MW generator in a 20 foot ISO container. The company says it is 4.5 times more space efficient than today's 40 foot packages. It is built around the WM2500 electric motor and uses turbines from partner CFS Aero in the UK. Pre orders are open, with first deliveries planned for 2027.
The website says the company works with the US Air Force, US Marine Corps, NASA, ARPA-E, the FAA and major aerospace primes. It lists AFSOC, PACAF, USTRANSCOM and AMC among the programs that use its products.
For defence users, the systems support agile combat employment, distributed basing and expeditionary operations. For commercial users, the company makes high power density inverter generators and containerized turbogenerators. These serve data centre backup, oil and gas operations, construction sites and hybrid power systems.
The company is developing a 600 kW BEEDLE generator with the US Air Force. It also describes a Wright 1 aircraft that would make all short flights under 800 miles free of carbon emissions, in the US and globally.
