UT Health East Texas Air 1

UT Health East Texas AIR 1 is the air ambulance programme of UT Health East Texas, a hospital system in Tyler, Texas. It is a hospital programme. The site says it was the first air ambulance service in East Texas.

Services

AIR 1 gives rapid air transport for major trauma such as car crashes, and for heart attack and stroke emergencies. It also stabilizes and moves adult, pediatric, newborn and other high risk patients. The helicopters use Pulsara, a mobile tool that tracks heart and stroke patients in real time.

Aircraft and bases

The release says UT Health East Texas operates four AIR 1 helicopters across the region. The EMS page says three are active and one is in reserve. Helicopters are based in Athens, Henderson and Quitman. Each aircraft has a pilot, a flight nurse and a paramedic and runs every day, around the clock. The site says Metro Aviation provides the aviation services and keeps control of the aircraft.

UT Health East Texas also runs more than 50 ambulances. The site says its EMS service is accredited by CAAS, and its dispatch center holds an international accreditation for emergency dispatch. Ambulances and helicopters use Pulsara to share heart and stroke patient data with the emergency room in real time.

Ground coverage

UT Health EMS ambulances cover all of Henderson and Cherokee counties and most of Smith and Wood counties, plus the city of Henderson. The site says paramedics and EMTs train on the latest life saving methods.
