About Talkeetna Air Taxi

Talkeetna Air Taxi, which calls itself the Glacier Landing Company, is an air taxi and flightseeing operator in Talkeetna, Alaska. Most of its flying is done in ski equipped fixed wing aircraft over Denali and the Alaska Range, but it also runs a helicopter operation that it describes as the only commercial helicopter service in the Talkeetna area.

Helicopter services

  • Heli sightseeing flights of one to one and a half hours in Denali National Park and the surrounding area
  • Heli hiking, three and a half hours, with remote access to wilderness landings
  • Remote wilderness and cabin drop-offs
  • Raft, fishing and hiking excursions and photo charters
  • Remote sling loads: the company says it is certified to carry external and sling loads

Helicopter fleet

The helicopter is a Robinson R44 II Raven, a three passenger aircraft, and the fleet page lists two. The page notes a passenger weight limit of 280 lb for helicopter flights. The rest of the fleet is seven de Havilland DHC-3 Otters, which seat up to ten passengers, and one Cessna 185. The company says it has the only IFR ski and oxygen equipped aircraft providing access to the Alaska Range, and that every aircraft gets a thorough inspection each winter.

Denali flightseeing

Fixed wing tours include the Southside Explorer, Mountain Voyager, Grand Denali and Summit Tour, each available with an optional glacier landing, plus a Winter Explorer from October to April. Other services include Iditarod race tours, river access and climbing support.
