About TAILHOOK ASSOCIATION

The Tailhook Association is an independent, fraternal, nonprofit organization. It supports aircraft carriers and sea-based aviation. The association is based in San Diego, California, at 9696 Business Park Avenue.

The association's purposes include supporting carrier aircraft and the aircrews of the United States. It also aims to educate the public about the role of aircraft carriers in the nation's defense system.

The Tailhook Educational Foundation runs a scholarship program. The site says it awards more than 100 scholarships each year. Awards go to children and grandchildren of naval aviators and aircrew, and to carrier based personnel studying at the undergraduate level.

The foundation also sends over 1,000 quarterly copies of The Hook magazine to high schools and colleges. Most go to NROTC and NJROTC units. The site says digital copies of the magazine, going back to 2018, are available to members.

The association runs an annual symposium called Hook. The site says Hook 26 was held August 20 to 22, 2026, at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada. Hook 27 is set for August 19 to 21, 2027. The site also lists awards such as Tailhooker of the Year and the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The site offers membership joining and renewal. It shows a phone number, (858) 689-9223, and a freephone number, (800) 322-4665. The site also sells shirts and watches.
