About SubUAS

SubUAS LLC makes The Naviator, a drone system that flies in the air and works underwater. The site calls it the first dual domain drone system. The company says the design reaches both air and water missions without a crew or a boat.

The Naviator comes in several sizes. The Babiator is the smallest model, weighing 5 pounds, with up to 25 minutes of flight and a range of up to 3.75 miles. The Naviator is the most popular model, with up to 50 minutes of flight and up to 5 miles of range. The Naviator XL weighs 54 pounds and can fly up to 70 minutes over up to 10 miles.

The site lists mission times and limits. The Naviator can fly up to 120 minutes underwater and 45 minutes in the air. It works at depths of up to 1,000 feet and has a communication range of 10 miles. Sensors include HD cameras, infrared, sonar, Doppler radars and magnetometers.

Other payloads include echosounders, imaging sonars and edge computing for AI applications. The flight control software lets an operator plan routes for one or many drones. The site says data is handled on the AWS platform.

The site lists uses such as search and rescue, infrastructure inspection, harbor access reconnaissance, dive training and sport fishing. It also names oil and gas, offshore wind and research work. Research at Rutgers University helped create the platform, according to the site.

The site lists awards including the 2025 Innovation Vanguard Award at XPONENTIAL and the 2020 Tibbetts Award. Visitors can talk to the team through a contact form to plan a system setup. The company has a LinkedIn page.
