Aircraft sales, finance, maintenance and Cirrus renovation at Phillipsburg Airport, Ohio

About Steel Aviation

Steel Aviation is an aircraft sales, finance, maintenance, avionics and refurbishment company at Phillipsburg Airport (3I7), 53 North Street Ext, Phillipsburg, Ohio. The website says the business has more than 25 years and over 5,000 transactions behind it, with team members on the site stating the company began in 1989. It works with aircraft from single engine pistons to jets, and its website says it is one of only two Diamond dealers in the United States appointed by the Diamond factory.

Cirrus

Cirrus is a central part of the business. The site says its president, Jaime Steel-Potter, has closed over 2,700 used Cirrus aircraft and owns a Cirrus herself. In 2018 the company introduced the Steel Edition Cirrus, a renovation programme that returns older SR aircraft to the market after restoration, which the website says is the only Cirrus renovation recognised by both Bluebook and Vref. The refurbishment and interior staff describe work on Steel Editions, and the paint and interior request form offers to schedule the work with the aircraft's next annual at Steel Aviation for Cirrus aircraft only. Team pages list technicians who are Cirrus factory trained and Continental trained for Cirrus engine overhaul and maintenance, and sales associates with Cirrus instructor backgrounds and thousands of hours in SR series aircraft. The downloads section includes a Cirrus history and a "Let's Roll: Cirrus Renovation" document.

Team and facility

Jaime Steel-Potter is president and Danny Potter vice president; Danny holds an A&P licence, served as Director of Maintenance and since 2020 directs the refurbishment centre and avionics department. The site says the two bought the airport in 2012 to stop a lawsuit that would have closed it. The maintenance page describes the shop as full of seasoned mechanics with a "fix it correctly the first time" philosophy, and the paint shop has its own manager and painters.
