About Starlab

Starlab is a project to build a commercial space station. It is run by Starlab Space, a US-led global joint venture and network of partners. The aim is a steady human presence in low-Earth orbit, for research, manufacturing and commercial work. The site says the team is based in Houston.

The station is listed as 17 meters tall and 7.7 meters wide. It can hold four crew at all times and eight during handover. It has three docking ports, an MDA SKYMAKER robotic arm and the Bishop science airlock. It also has power generation, thermal control and propulsion.

The payload laboratory has an internal and an external part. The internal laboratory has 13 platforms on two decks, with a total capacity of 130 MDLEs. The external laboratory has two platforms, each able to hold nine payloads, which are installed with robots through the SKYMAKER arm and the airlock.

The site names the partners and what each brings. Voyager offers commercial payload services, mission control and mission planning, and says it has run over 1,000 customer missions on the ISS for customers from 35 or more nations. It also built and runs the Bishop Airlock on the ISS. Airbus, which made the Columbus module, is building the Starlab habitat. The page also mentions its Automated Transfer Vehicle and Bartolomeo hosting platform.

News items cover work with the European Space Agency, talks with UNOOSA and a payload reservation from Elethron. The contact form has reasons such as partnerships, mission inquiry, media, careers and supplier.
