Spectrum Technologies

Spectrum Technologies makes laser systems that mark, strip and process wire. These machines are used to make complex wire and cable harnesses. Aviation is the first industry listed on the site, which also names defence, medical, space, rail, automotive, telecoms and electronics. The UK office is named as a base, and the company won an export award at the Made in Wales Awards in 2026.

The company was founded in 1989 as a spin out from the BAE Systems Advanced Technology Centre. It brought UV laser wire marking to the aerospace industry, and the site says this has become the standard way to identify aerospace wire. Spectrum has been independently owned since a management buyout in 1994. It reports more than 75 employees, over 2,000 systems installed and customers in over 65 countries.

For aviation, the company says its UV laser marking is used on aircraft wiring for civil and military fleets. It names Boeing, Airbus and other major aircraft makers as customers. More than 95 percent of its output is exported.

Besides machines, it offers contract manufacturing, with marking, stripping and cutting services from prototypes to full production. Support services include training, preventive maintenance and technical help. A wire sample gallery shows results from its machines.
