Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies (SJAC)
Japan's aerospace industry association since 1952
About Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies
The Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies (SJAC) is the aerospace industry association of Japan, based in Tokyo. It brings together around 130 companies that develop and make aircraft, satellites, rockets and related technologies. It has supported the growth of the industry since 1952.
SJAC began in 1952 and grew from aviation into space development. It was reorganised under its present name in 1974. After public interest corporation reforms, it became a general incorporated association in 2012, with approval from the Cabinet Office.
The association works to support the aerospace industry in Japan and around the world. It does this through technology advancement, international collaboration and research. It also promotes Japan's industry abroad. At the Paris Air Show 2025, SJAC took part in promoting Japan's aerospace industry worldwide.
Its activities cover several areas. It takes part in international aerospace exhibitions. It runs the aviation industry EDI Center and the JAQG Aerospace Quality Center. It also carries out standardisation work and supply chain support, and it runs programmes funded by JKA.
SJAC publishes industry data. Each month it releases figures on the turnover of Japan's aircraft industry. Recent releases cover March to July 2026. It also offers publications on the aerospace industries of Japan and the world. Free PDF documents introduce the organisation and its activities, Japan's aerospace industry, and an English catalogue of Japan's space-related products.
It is led by a chair, vice chairs, directors and auditors. It has branches and standing and ad hoc committees to carry out its work. A secretariat, under the executive vice president, handles daily operations.
