Smiths Advanced Materials

Smiths Advanced Materials, shown on its site as Smiths Advanced Metals, is a United Kingdom stockholder and distributor of speciality metals. It is a division of Smiths Metal Centres Limited. The company says it supplies alloys for high technology industries and general engineering, including aerospace, defence, oil and gas, and MRO.

The firm was formed in 1989. Its stated aim was to give industries one reliable source of engineering raw materials, with preparation as close as possible to the final need. Its stock includes aluminium, bronze, copper, copper nickel, nickel, stainless steels, steel alloys, titanium and engineering plastics. It stocks many grades and shapes in metric and imperial sizes, in closer size steps that can reduce further machining. One page covers aluminium tubes in grades such as 2024, 6061 and 7075.

Services include in-house processing, custom supply packages and metallurgical support from a UKAS accredited testing laboratory. Customers can see live stock information at any time. A dedicated export team looks after overseas orders. The site also says it stocks materials for the nuclear sector.

Another page says over 40 approvals, including Leonardo and BAE Systems. It also names markets that include space, chemical, medical, naval and power generation.
