Schunk Group

The Schunk Group is a German technology group in materials technology and mechanical engineering, headquartered on Rodheimer Strasse in Heuchelheim near Giessen and active since 1913. With around 10,000 employees at 64 locations in 26 countries and sales of 1.7 billion euros in 2025, the group develops materials and components for industries including aerospace, where its solutions are aimed at lighter, safer and more efficient aircraft, helicopters and satellites, and its Weiss Technik brand supplies environmental simulation and thermal engineering equipment.

Aerospace portfolio

• High-strength lightweight components made of carbon, glass or oxide fibre composites with plastic, carbon or ceramic matrices, designed to reduce weight and cost while increasing performance and durability
• High-performance ceramics for satellite assembly, with bionic component optimisation giving ceramic parts greater stiffness, functionality, dynamics and safety at lower weight
• Heat-resistant engine components produced by metal injection moulding, which the group says were the first safety-relevant MIM parts ever used in aviation

• Expert support from component development in partnership with customers through to the choice of the right material for each requirement
