About Northwest Seaplanes

Northwest Seaplanes is a family owned seaplane company that has operated since 1988. It flies scheduled and charter flights from South Lake Washington, close to downtown Seattle. Its routes reach the San Juan Islands, Vancouver Island and the Inside Passage of British Columbia.

The company uses a fleet of five De Havilland Beavers. Each seats six passengers, and the site says the fleet can carry up to 30 people in all. The planes can land on water, so they reach many places in Western Washington and British Columbia that have no other easy access.

Its services include charter flights, fly-in fishing trips to lodges and resorts in British Columbia, and seaplane tours of Seattle and the Cascade Mountains. It also lists lunch, dinner and picnic charter flights. Dockside service is offered at private homes on Lake Washington, Lake Sammamish and Puget Sound.

The charter page names many destinations, such as Friday Harbor, Roche Harbor, Lake Chelan, Whistler, Vancouver, Nanaimo and Desolation Sound. The site states that all flights are operated by Friday Harbor Seaplanes.

The about page tells the story of founder Clyde Carlson. He started in seaplanes in 1968, began Western Air Charters in 1976 and bought Lake Union Air Service in 1980. He began Northwest Seaplanes in 1988, and the family bought Hakai Lodge in 2010. His son Shane Carlson manages seaplane operations for Northwest Seaplanes and Chelan Seaplanes.

The website has a contact form, a careers page and a phone number, 425 277 1590.
