Middle Georgia State College

Middle Georgia State University operates the School of Aviation at its Eastman campus in Georgia. The campus sits next to a working airport. The aviation school provides training for students who want careers in flight, maintenance, air traffic control, and aviation management. It offers programs in flight training, air traffic management, aviation maintenance technology, and aircraft structural technology. These programs cover different areas of the aviation industry. The school is part of a public university that serves students across multiple campuses and online.

The School of Aviation awards certificates, associate degrees, and bachelor degrees. Students may also pursue an online bachelor degree in aviation. The flight program is FAA approved. The aviation school is accredited by SACS and AABI. This means the school meets standards set by accrediting bodies. Graduates can enter the aviation workforce or continue their education. The school aims to prepare students for technical roles in aviation.

The Eastman campus maintains a fleet of 58 aircraft. This includes 54 fixed wing aircraft and four helicopters. Students also train on flight simulators. Flight instruction takes place at the Eastman campus and at Macon Downtown Airport. This gives students access to different flying environments during their training. The variety of aircraft helps students gain experience with different types of equipment.

The maintenance technology program is a Part 147 program. The flight training program that leads to a four year degree operates under Part 141 standards. The university also takes part in the Air Traffic Control Collegiate Training Initiative. This initiative prepares students for careers as air traffic controllers. These designations show that the training meets specific federal guidelines. Students learn under structured programs that follow national rules.

Students from the maintenance, flight, air traffic, and management programs study and live together at the Eastman campus. Housing is available at the Eastman, Macon, and Cochran campuses. Georgia residents may use HOPE and Zell Miller scholarships to pay for aviation coursework. The university enrolls more than 8,000 students across its campuses in Macon, Cochran, Dublin, Eastman, and Warner Robins. It offers more than 70 areas of study.
