Mecasoft
Electro-erosion and micro-machining of precision metal parts since 1981
About Mecasoft
Mecasoft is a Belgian precision and micromechanical machining company with more than 40 years of experience, based at Rue de la Molignée 60 in the Molignée industrial zone at Anhée, in the province of Namur. Founded in 1981 by Raymond Brandt, a computer science specialist, and nuclear engineer Francis Henry de Frahan, the company positioned itself from the start as a technological innovation business specialising in micro-machining and in particular electro-erosion, taking its name from the fusion of mechanics and software to reflect computer-controlled machining run from workstations. Originally housed in the Moulins factory buildings at Anhée, it moved to its current site in 1992.
Machining techniques
- High-precision cutting by wire electro-erosion, the technique the company bought its first machine for on its creation
- Micro-milling, micro-cutting and micro-drilling of metal components in a wide variety of shapes
- A mechanical design office that helps develop parts from A to Z, from feasibility studies to drawings and production
- Quality control at every stage of machining using a Zeiss Contura tactile and optical coordinate measuring machine with 3D probes, a Keyence LM-1000 image dimension inspection system accurate to plus or minus 0.7 micron and a DeMeet 400 3D CNC multi-sensor measuring machine, with material certificates available on request
Markets
Mecasoft's work is used in demanding and regulated sectors including aeronautics, aerospace, medical and pharmaceutical equipment, industrial design and research and academic institutes, where its micro-components help make aircraft and satellites fly or build new pharmaceutical mixers. The company says it is among the best for producing metal micro-components and positions itself as a loyal partner that listens to customers and looks for effective, competitive solutions.
Company
After the death of co-founder Raymond Brandt, Francis Henry de Frahan set up governance to continue the company's development, and the current management is modernising its plants, expanding its technological services and diversifying into export markets, particularly Germany, Switzerland and France. Mecasoft publishes tips, white papers and case studies on precision machining and offers feasibility assessments and quotations through its website.
