Precision electric drive systems since 1961

About maxon
maxon group develops and manufactures precision electric drive systems: DC and brushless DC motors, gearheads, sensors, control electronics and complete mechatronic drive systems, from single prototypes to large-scale production. Founded in 1961, the Swiss company has about 3,200 employees worldwide and says its drives are used wherever precision, efficiency and reliability are required, including in aerospace, medical technology, industrial automation, robotics and mobility.
Products
- Brushed and brushless DC motors, including the EC frameless DT 50 and the HD (heavy duty) brushless range built for ambient temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius
- Planetary and spur gearheads
- Encoders and sensors
- Current and speed controllers and positioning control electronics
- Custom mechatronic drive systems built to customer requirements
- Pumps and medication delivery systems for medical technology
Standard products can be selected, configured and purchased in the maxon online shop, and the group publishes an annual product news video.
Applications
The site describes maxon drives on the road, in the air, in the operating theatre and in space, and highlights projects such as Kenshiro, a tendon-controlled humanoid robot from the University of Tokyo that uses around 100 brushless maxon motors, and a kinetic artwork in the Starlux Airlines flagship store in Taipei. For aerospace and defence, maxon supplies drives for aircraft, satellites and space systems, which it presents at space and defence exhibitions.
Company
maxon states that it produces Swiss quality at all its locations and has a presence in many countries, with revenue reported for 2025 on its site. It develops drives in close collaboration with customers and describes a team culture built on curiosity, precision and trust.
