About Kirian Technologies

Kirian Technologies is a research and development company. According to its site, it licenses designs for a space engine it calls the Force Redirection Electric Engine. The site does not give a head office address.

The company says the engine makes motion using only electricity and exhausts nothing. It says thrust comes from impulses that add up to acceleration in space. The site lists example speeds for landing on Ceres, Mars and other moons, and for trips to nearby stars. These are the company's own claims and goals.

The site lists limits too. It says first generation thrust will be low, like an ion engine, and that building a working design will take time. It also says license costs will be high. The company says it will not compete with mass producers. It plans to focus on advancing and licensing designs, and notes that at least 12 engines are needed per spacecraft for full movement in space.

A timeline on the site runs from 1 to 5 years out to 50 to 100 years. Early goals include use in satellite services such as Starlink. Later goals include cargo ferries and exploration missions.

The founder is Kirian Van Hest, and the co-founder is Thomas Fontaine. The site has a contact form, a page on how the engine works and links to X, LinkedIn and YouTube.
