About International Air Response

International Air Response, also called IAR, is a provider of specialized aerial services based in Phoenix, Arizona. It owns, maintains and operates a large fleet of Lockheed C-130 Hercules aircraft. The company was founded in 1976.

IAR serves a wide range of government and private sector clients around the world. It provides emergency and non-emergency aerial services that it describes as safe, efficient and effective. The company is licensed to operate globally and has subsidiaries in Singapore, the United Kingdom and Australia. It is also a registered US federal government contractor.

Its aerial services include search and rescue, oil spill response, airdrop, spaceflight support, film production, research and development, aerial spraying and wildfire suppression. It also leases aircraft and engines and supports other operators with aircraft maintenance.

For search and rescue, IAR uses long-range C-130 aircraft with a tactical airdrop capability. These aircraft can deploy rescue equipment and personnel with high precision over 1,000 nautical miles from a staging airport. Backup aircraft are available to widen the search as the mission changes. A full solution includes aircraft, rescue equipment and crews with search and rescue experience. The C-130 offers more than 2,200 nautical miles of range and more than eight hours of endurance. It can carry communications equipment, deploy pararescue jumpers and work from short runways.

The aircraft are FAA certified for search and rescue under 14 CFR 21.25. They have four engines, which suits low-altitude flight over water. They can fly at night and in instrument conditions, and they have night vision goggle capability. They use the USAF standard 463L airdrop system. IAR says it has a proven record of search and rescue work for multiple industries.

On the leasing side, a wet lease includes the aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance. A dry lease covers the aircraft only. Engine leasing covers RB211 and T56 engines. Personnel support covers operations, training, flight crew and maintenance technicians.

IAR also offers aircraft support that includes maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification and upgrade. The company is a certified Part 145 repair station.
