Hex20

HEX20 is a payload-agnostic small satellite company headquartered at Nila, Technopark Phase 1 in Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), Kerala, India, with offices in Broomfield, Colorado, the Masdar Free Zone in Abu Dhabi and Taoyuan City, Taiwan. It provides cost-effective CubeSat and SmallSat platforms, customised hardware and sensor technologies, and full mission services for governments, researchers and commercial customers, with the stated mission of designing accessible, scalable and reliable satellite platforms that cut the time, cost and complexity of getting to orbit.

• Flight-proven satellite platforms from a preconfigured 3U CubeSat to buses for demanding, high-power payloads, with modular, scalable and reconfigurable architecture built to defence standards, SmartFusion2 ARM Cortex-M3 or PolarFire on-board computers, 3.3 V, 5 V and customisable 6 to 28 V power buses and UHF, S-band, X-band and K-band CCSDS-compliant communications
• An online platform configurator that updates rough order of magnitude cost live as subsystem options are selected
• A compact, radiation-tolerant star tracker for micro and small satellites with arcsecond-level accuracy, onboard processing, autonomous operation and star detection to magnitude 6, compatible with third-party ADCS
• FlatSat hardware-in-the-loop validation for payloads and subsystems

Services

• Mission as a service from concept to orbital data for nanosatellite missions from 3U to 27U, covering design, build, integration, test, launch and operations, plus spacecraft registration and frequency licence filing
• Payload hosting and ground system as a service, with HEX20 Labs operating a VHF and UHF ground station as mission control centre for TT&C, LEOP and sustained operations, and data delivery through partners AWS, KSAT and Leafspace
• The XORBIT accelerated space programme for universities

Missions

HEX20 is a mission partner on the Emirates Asteroid Impactor Mission with the UAE Space Agency and TII, planned for 2028 to 2035 with a 5 billion km journey, flybys of Venus, Earth and Mars and visits to six asteroids before reaching Justitia in the main belt. Other work includes a 12U CubeSat bus for very low Earth orbit operations and a mission to map Earth's crustal magnetic field at high resolution. The company says its founders grew up watching rockets launch from their home towns in Kerala.
